3G Hacks - Samsung a900 hack - programs - CDMA - Modem

The principle purpose of this site is to document the cultural shift to a new generation of media (high-speed mobile) over time. Namely, the adoption of 3G Internet-capable cellular phones by the American public and the utilization of video compression software and other PC/Server based tools to generate 3G-Ready Content for the mass market.

Think of AOL before it was connected to the Internet. Around the time of 28.8kbs connections, AOL ran its own content show. Over time, AOL users realized that they could use Yahoo! as their portal and jumped ship to standalone ISPs. Will the 3G carriers be able to do better in keeping their users' content purchases (if they're even paying for them) close to home?

3G Phones integrate high-speed internet with video recording and playback capabilities and all-around multimedia functionality including photos and text entry. Europe and Asia are years ahead of us in this arena, but the truly American spin on it is yet to come. Sprint and Verizon have pushed out this high-end hardware and are letting the content plan catch up as they get in the hands of consumers. This site is here to watch it evolve.

There is much discussion on other message boards on these topics, but this is an effort to centralize this knowledge ...

This site is the home of my tracking the hackers vs. content providers vs. network providers in the newest mobile technology race - EVDO 3G phones - and their US rollout to mass-market. Specifically, details on loading homemade video and sound on the Samsung A900 and Motorola Razr 3G phones or streaming it from private web sites for personal use.

June 8, 2006: The possibility of a virtual 'huge screen' like this is what will make mobile video explode into the mass-marketplace. This product is currently set up for video Ipod, but you don't need to think too hard to see how it would work on a cell phone.

Video Handsets Mostly Just Used as Phones

hmmmm.... seems the 'big players' aren't getting the message out. or developing anything luring enough to get people excited. Something will tip the balance - but the infrastructure is out there.
